Any plan that results in the Federal Government "Micro-Managing" individual insurance companies, would be a grave mistake. But the Obama plan to provide some basic oversight to protect consumers as well as other insurance companies from an AIG type melt-down is a sound and rational decision. There are to many companies that are in very sorry financial condition. This can result in putting the public as well as other healthy companies (Required to pay into state guarantee funds) into a vulnerable position. www.urbaninsuranceagency.com

I agree with Craig. This is yet another tentacle of the Obama monster reaching into another industry. They can't just come out and say they're taking over the insurance industry. They're very subtle (or sneaky) about it. First they make us beleive they will just be the "overseers" to protect us from the potential evildoers in the industry. Then they will decide the industry is not functioning the way they think it should. Then the tentacle will reach even further and wrap itself tighter taking more control just like it has or will with the auto industry, banking and health care. It's like an insidious disease that slowly creeps in and takes over a living organism. Before long it dies from within. I'm afraid we are heading for that slow death.
